Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today's happenings.

Politicians in churches

On this Sunday, politicians are expected to join congregants in churches. However, the usual routine might see a twist with an online youth campaign urging members of parliament who voted in favour of the Finance Bill 2024 to be denied the chance to speak or attend the services.

The campaign, dubbed "Occupy Churches," is a reaction to the passing of the Finance Bill 2024, which was later rejected by President William Ruto.

Kenya title chase

Kenya Morans will be in action as they seek to defend the title Shujaa won in 2023 by defeating South Africa 17-12.

This year, the matches are being played in Mauritius. Coached by Louis Kisia, the Morans are keen to bounce back after faltering in the final match of day one.

The Morans finished second in the group stage with seven points, following two wins and one loss. They scored 70 points and conceded only seven.

Madagascar won Pool A, achieving a perfect record with three straight wins, earning nine points. The Makis scored 76 points and conceded 47.

Harambee Stars U20

The Harambee Stars U20 will play their second match against Comoros on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Wolfson Stadium at 1:00 p.m. EAT. The side will be eyeing the second win to reach the knockout stage.

The Emerging Stars kicked off their COSAFA Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over defending champions Zambia on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Kenya set a high tempo from the start, and their efforts paid off in the 8th minute when Patrick Otieno drew a foul in the box.

Austine Odhiambo confidently stepped up and converted the penalty, giving Kenya an early lead. Shortly thereafter, Patrick Otieno doubled the lead with a goal, thanks to a precise assist from Benson Omalla.

In the other Group B match, Zimbabwe secured a 1-0 victory over Comoros. This result places Kenya at the top of Group B with 3 points, followed by Zimbabwe.
