In courts today
The Milimani Anti-Corruption is today expected to commence the hearing of a case involving Silas Masinde Simiyu and eight others.
Masinde faces charges including wilful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement and irregular procurement at GDC emanating from a tender awarded at Ksh2.7 million per move.
“Silas Masinde Simiyu and 8 others. They are charged with willful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement. Allegations related to irregular procurement at GDC emanating from rig move services tender that was awarded at Ksh2.7 million per move. Milimani Anti-Corruption Court,” the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed in a statement.
Specialists join doctors’ strike
Consultants are today expected to join doctors in the ongoing strike which entered its third week.
Confirming the latest, Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Davji Atellah said the strike is expected to heighten from next week and it will include private hospitals.
“As the strike enters day 22, we have to continue being on strike and we are going to escalate it such that we are going to stop offering private services that were offered before by consultants,” Atellah stated.
“Next week we will see how to make sure that doctors working in private hospitals see the need to protect the profession, it is not an individual war,” he added.
