A new Ministry of Education online system will store all information about students in every level of education in one place.

The Kenya Education Management System will be a central location for all data concerning learners and other vital facets of education.

The system will synchronise data management from the early grades to university, said Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu yesterday at a forum at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.

“The web-based system will allow the tracking of all learners from pre-primary, primary, secondary, middle-level colleges, and university education,” Machogu said in a statement.

The system will also harmonise education data from the National Education Management System, Technical Vocational Education Management Information System, and Higher Education Management Information System.

The new centralised system will allow for strategic planning and decision-making on education matters, Machogu said. Officials hope it will also ensure maximum efficiency and effective use of education resources.
