Ndakwa slams Natembeya for opposition hypocrisy while relying on govt funding

By , November 1, 2025

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate David Ndakwa has accused Trans-Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya of hypocrisy for criticising the government while relying on it for funding necessary for county operations.

Speaking during a campaign rally on Saturday, November 1, 2025, aimed at popularising his bid, Ndakwa said that the county boss is constantly fighting the government and turning Kenyans against the same government that finances his county’s operations.

He went on to urge Malava residents not to buy into the agenda pushed by Natembeya, who has been visiting the constituency campaigning for Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Chair Seth Panyako, also the candidate endorsed by the Democratic Action Party (DAP-K), saying that he is doing so from a hypocritical standpoint.

“That person who claims to be in opposition, like Natembeya, who travels everywhere criticising the government, I ask him, when he returns to Trans-Nzoia, where does he get the money to run his county? Isn’t it from the government he criticises? Isn’t he relying on it?” Ndakwa noted.

Ndakwa has also pledged to focus on the agenda he has for the people of Malava upon his election rather than targeting his opponents.

Ndakwa’s issue-based campaign

He went on to criticise his rivals, saying they have resorted to desperate measures by dragging the President and other leaders aligned with him, such as Farouk, into their campaigns instead of telling the electorate what they plan to do for the people of Malava. He emphasised that he will run an issue-based campaign and not poke holes at his opponents.

Ndakwa, who is serving his second term as MCA for Kabras West after first being elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022 with a landslide victory across all polling stations, urged Malava voters to consider his past developmental track record when making their decision on November 27, the date set for the by-election.

“I do not want to speak about or mention anyone else I am competing against for this parliamentary seat. I will speak about my agenda. When others come, they mention me, Farouk, or Ruto instead of telling the electorate about their own plans,” Ndakwa added.
