National Museums of Kenya announces new entry fees effective May 7, 2026
By Cynthia Lodite, April 7, 2026The National Museums of Kenya has announced revised admission charges for museums, monuments and heritage sites across the country, with visitors expected to pay more.
The changes were announced on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in a notice published in the MyGov recent issue.
In line with the National Museums and Heritage (Admissions Fees) Regulations of 2025, the National Museums has confirmed that the changes will be effective from May 7, 2026.
“Notice is hereby given to the general public that pursuant to Legal Notice No. 79 of 2025 National Museums and Heritage (Admissions Fees) Regulations, 2025, National Museums of Kenya will be implementing its revised heritage facilities admission fees with effect from 7th May, 2026,” read the notice in part.
Kenyan and East African adult citizens visiting the Nairobi National Museum or Snake Park will now pay Ksh350 and children Ksh200, while a combined ticket now costs Ksh600 for adults and Ksh300 for children.
For the rest of Africans, the new rates have been revised to Ksh1170 for adults and Ksh780 for children, while those coming from outside Africa are now expected to pay Ksh2,341 for adults and Ksh1,170 for children.

Before the changes, Kenyan visitors were required to pay at least Ksh300 for adults and Ksh150 for children, while non-residents paid Ksh1,200 for adults and Ksh600 for children.
On the other hand, the Karen Blixen Museum in Nairobi and the historic Fort Jesus in Mombasa are also affected by the rise in prices.
Kenyan and East African adult visitors to these sites will pay Ksh550 and children pay Ksh300, while combined tickets for Fort Jesus Museum and the Butterfly House will cost Ksh650 for adults and Ksh400 for children.

At the same time, Coastal heritage sites in Lamu County, including the Lamu Fort, Lamu Museum, the Swahili House Museum and the German Post Office, will have the previous entry fees of Ksh200 for adults and Ksh100 for children.
In addition, Tambach, Kakapel, Pate, Nyeri, Shimoni, Songhor, Fort Ternan and Siyu fort will be having the lowest charges in the new pricing, with adults expected to pay at least Ksh100 and children Ksh50.
