Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka have affirmed that the NASA coalition is dead.

In a statement made on Tuesday, July 20, the two leaders who were flanked by FORD Kenya’s Moses Wetangula said they were committed to the One Kenya Alliance dispelling talk of a possible NASA revival.

The three leaders who had a meeting with KANU’s party leader Gideon Moi revealed that they were committed to the One Kenya alliance ahead of the 2022 general elections.

“We wish to re-state that the One Kenya Alliance is a coalition of shared ideas, ideals, people and parties that carry genuine goodwill for our beloved country,” the leaders said in part.

The statement by the NASA co-principals comes after ANC and Wiper accused ODM of mistrust and pocketing all the funds given to the coalition by the Registrar of Political Parties.

On Saturday, Mudavadi who was on a vote hunting mission in Mt Kenya said that NASA to him is a thing of the past and is of no consequence to his political career and that is why he is seeking alliances with leaders from Mt Kenya region.

“For me, NASA is a thing of the past am looking forward to forging alliances with other leaders especially from the Mt Kenya region with a view of building a strong alliance that will unite the country,” he noted while addressing congregants at Endarasha Catholic Church in Meru.

“NASA is now a past. We are forging forward and looking for new partners who will work together to revive the economy of our country,” he said.

Mudavadi said the alliance is no longer an option for him, insisting that he is focused on strengthening his Amani party.

After the Tuesday meeting, the four leaders urged President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government to intensify its vaccination program so that at least 50% of the Kenyan population can be immunized.

“We acknowledge that this pandemic appears to be our new norm and therefore urge government to intensify its vaccination program to ensure that at the very least 50% of the population is vaccinated by the end of the year,” the leaders said.
