Nandi Hills was thrown into mourning after a parliamentary aspirant died in a grisly road accident yesterday morning.

Wesley Kibet Kogo, 30, a frontrunner to unseat the incumbent Alfred Keter on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) died after a public service vehicle he was travelling in rammed into another at Kangemi area along Waiyaki way in Nairobi.

Kogo popularly known as ‘Tingeet’ was headed for a morning show at the Kalenjin vernacular station Kass FM.

A sombre mood yesterday engulfed the home of Kogo at Kipsamo village following the news of his demise with his supporters trooping to his home to condole with his family.

Robert Chepkwony and Irene Jemutai who were set to face off with him for the UDA ticket during the party primaries slated for April 14, conveyed their condolences to his family.

Kogo hit the headlines in November, 2021 after the Nandi Hills Community raised funds for his political campaigns. People Daily established that Sh1.6 million was raised in the event and Kogo was upbeat of flooring Keter who has served for two terms.

Kogo pursued a degree in Applied Statistics and Computing from the University of Eldoret and graduated in 2015. Police confirmed the incident.
