Nandi County Majority Whip Julius Kipruto Keter dies

The Nandi County Assembly is in mourning following the death of Julius Kipruto Keter, the Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Chemundu/Kapngetuny Ward.
News of his demise was confirmed by Philemon Cheruiyot Melly, the County Assembly Speaker who said the MCA passed on in a hospital in Eldoret after a short illness on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
Condolences
“Nandi County Assembly is deeply saddened to announce the untimely passing on of Hon. Julius Kipruto Keter, the Majority Whip and MCA Chemundu/Kapngetuny Ward on Saturday 12th April 2025.
“I hereby convey my heartfelt condolence and that of the County Assembly to the family, the Nandi County Assembly fraternity, Nandi County Executive, the great people of Chemundu/Kapngetuny and the entire County,” part of the Nandi county speaker’s statement read.

Keter rose to the MCA seat after defeating Robert Kipchirchir Kirwa in the 2022 elections and quickly rose to become the County Assembly’s Majority Whip.
In mourning the leader, Melly described him as a man dedicated to serving his people.
“Hon. Keter was a true servant of the people who dedicated his life to the betterment of his people. His tireless work, unwavering commitment, and genuine love for the community will be cherished,” Melly stated.
Koskei, Sang tributes
Felix Koskei, The Chief Of Staff and Head of the Public Service and Nandi governor Stephen Sang also condoled with the Nandi people following the demise of the politician.
Koskei lauded Keter for his service to the people.
Sang, in his condolences, said Keter was a friend and a true servant of the people with an unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of his constituents.
“Hon. Kipruto was not just a colleague, but a friend and a true servant of the people. His unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of his constituents, his humility, and his calm, thoughtful leadership will be deeply missed. He stood firm in advocating for the development and was a strong voice in the County Assembly of Nandi,” the governor’s message read as posted on his X account.
