Former Cabinet Secretary of Tourism, Najib Balala, has assumed a new role as the Tourism Advisor for the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI).
In his new capacity, Balala will join a global team comprising political strategists, policy experts, and delivery practitioners.
Najib Balala’s role
Their collective mission is to collaborate with governments and political leaders worldwide to instigate transformative change.
Expressing his appreciation for the appointment, Balala conveyed his honour of becoming part of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI).
“Honored to have been appointed by Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) as a Tourism Advisor, part of a global team of political strategists, policy experts, and delivery practitioners who work with governments and political leaders around the world to drive change,” he said in a statement on his social media pages.
Balala’s first responsibilities included visiting the President of Zanzibar, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, alongside former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who currently serves as the Executive Chairman of The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI).
Najib Balala’s visit
During the visit, their primary focus was on fostering collaboration between the government of Zanzibar and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
They placed particular emphasis on socio-economic development, tourism, ports, and digitization as key drivers of economic growth and development.
The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change operates as a non-profit organization established by former UK Prime Minister Blair.
Blair introduced the Institute with the purpose of creating a new policy platform to address the void in the middle of politics.
It seeks to combat the rise of authoritarian populism, which has eroded faith in democracy in Western nations.
The organization concentrates on revitalizing the political centre, improving African governance, shaping Middle East policies, and combating religious extremism.
