Former Attorney General Justin Muturi accused President William Ruto of plotting to use the national IDs of young people to rig the 2027 General Election.

Muturi made the claims during a rally in Zimmerman, Roysambu, on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

“Kasongo kwanza tumtaadharishe. Mmemskia juzi akisema ati atashinda sisi na kura millioni mbili mpaka millioni tatu,” he said.

“Sasa tunataka kuambia watu wa IEBC, kwa sababu walifanya mkutano mwezi wa November na watu wa National Registration Bureau. Wajaribu kutoa majina ya watoto ambao wameandikishwa, watachukua vitambulisho ati ndio Ruto ampatie aibe kura nayo,” he said.

He warned the electoral body of consequences, adding:

“Tunataka kuambia IEBC, mkidhubutu hayo, ndio mtajua kile kilimfanya punda asipewe pombe.”

Muturi also criticised Ruto personally.

“Tunataka kuambia William Ruto. Kwa sababu umekuwa ukitukana watu, viongozi, ati hakuna akili. Wewe William Ruto, mwenye umesema uko na akili,” he said.

The former Attorney General dismissed Ruto’s talks on corruption.

“Na umeongea mambo ya wizi, Wakenya nataka kuwaambia hivi, hakuna haja ya kushinda kuongea mambo ya corruption,” he said. He argued Ruto’s claims lack credibility given scandals in his government.

Muturi targets Ruto’s allies

This is not Muturi’s first attack on the President. On February 1, 2026, he questioned Ruto’s links to foreign figures connected to disputed elections. At a church service in ACK Mathioya, Murang’a County, Muturi targeted Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

“This man is a convicted fraudster, kwa mambo ya kusupply electoral materials; in South Africa, in Namibia,” he said.

Muturi questioned Chivayo’s access to Kenyan leaders.

“Kila akija huku Kenya anapitia Eldoret Airport. We must begin to ask, what is it that they do with William Ruto,” he said, accusing Ruto of consorting with criminals.

Muturi showed photos of Chivayo with Ruto.

“Na mkimwangalia hapa, najua ndugu yangu Riggy G anajua hii kameza kako hapa. Huyu Chivayo, ako na connection na rais wa Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa. Ndio huyu hapa, wako na Mnangagwa na wako na William Ruto.”

He also mentioned Venezuelan Jose Camargo, arrested in Kenya in 2022 with Smartmatic materials but later released.

“Jose Camargo, kutoka Venezuela, huyu Chivayo, kutoka Zimbabwe,” Muturi asked. “What is it that he is doing with William Ruto every time that he comes to Kenya?”

Muturi’s accusations have strengthened calls for IEBC reforms. Opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, have criticised previous deals with Smartmatic.
