Mutua wants Kang’ata rewarded for ‘rescuing BBI’

By , January 5, 2021

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has commended Senate Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang’ata for courageously addressing President Uhuru Kenyatta on the plight of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in Mt. Kenya region.

In a long Facebook post on Tuesday, Governor Mutua said Kang’ata’s letter “may be the best thing to happen to the BBI”.

“What the courageous Senate Majority Chief Whip has done is vocalized the whispers that have been going on due to propaganda by opposers of BBI,” said Alfred Mutua.

SENATOR IRUNGU KANG’ATA SHOULD BE HONOURED AND REWARDED FOR RESCUING BBI Senator Irungu Kang’ata’s letter to President…

The former government spokesperson in the Mwai Kibaki regime said BBI prospects in the Mt. Kenya region will be well and asked Jubilee politicians not to condemn Kanga’ta.

Senator Kang’ata has in the recent past been at the centre of political debates after his letter to the President “leaked” to the media.

In the letter, the Murang’a Senator highlights the poor uptake of the BBI in Mt. Kenya region, which he says is a cause for alarm in selling it.

The lawmaker said only two out of 10 people in the region support the BBI, from the survey he conducted.

Among other things, Kang’ata advises Uhuru’s administration to act weak and leave its “iron fist” stance.
