Murkomen: Failed leaders have become State critics

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to join the government and bring to the table his ideas on transforming Kenya.
Musyoka, the minister said, does not have to wait for the outcome of the 2027 general election, adding that President Ruto’s broad-based government could accommodate all.
Speaking in Machakos town on Saturday during a town hall gathering on security called Jukwaa la Usalama, Murkomen said many people previously in leadership positions had become government critics after failing to offer solutions during their tenure
“What prevents Kalonzo Musyoka from joining the government now?” Murokomen said.
“The president has said this is a broad-based government. Let [Kalonzo] join the government now and bring his ideas to the table rather than waiting for 2027.”
Peace and security
He was responding to Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, who had asserted that Kenyans were behind Kalonzo, adding that the Wiper leader was ready to take over from Ruto if the president failed to deliver.
Mwangangi cautioned Murkomen not to be deceived by speakers who had expressed support for President Ruto, saying the Lower Eastern region was fully behind Kalonzo.
The national and county governments had an obligation to work together to promote peace and security as stipulated in the Constitution, said Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who also attended the function.
Murkomen also declared war on land cartels, including powerful forces in government, whom he accused of turning Machakos into Kenya’s epicentre of land fraud. Murkomen said the government will deal mercilessly with criminals who have infiltrated the land sector.
“We want to know which officials in the national government are harassing Machakos residents with land fraud,” Murkomen said.
“We also want to know which political leaders are involved in illegal land matters and which chiefs or assistant chiefs are facilitating fraud on land.”
