Murkomen eulogises Ngong Ngeno as brilliant yet humble leader who illuminated Emurua Dikirr
By Kiprono Keileb, March 4, 2026Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has paid an emotional tribute to late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament (MP) Ngong Ngeno, describing him as an intelligent, humble and deeply religious leader who quietly transformed lives in Emurua Dikirr.
Speaking during a prayer service held at African Gospel Church (AGC) Karen, Nairobi, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, following the deadly helicopter crash in Nandi County that claimed the lives of six people, Murkomen reflected on Ngeno’s character and leadership.

“This morning, I joined the Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, fellow leaders, mourners and bereaved families in the prayer service for Johana Ng’eno, Colonel (Rtd) George Were, Robert Kipkoech Keter, Amos Kipng’etich Rotich, Nicholas Kosgei and Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono, who tragically perished in the helicopter crash on Saturday, February 28, 2026 in Chepkiyep, Nandi County,” Murkomen stated.
He described the atmosphere at AGC Karen as prayerful and heavy with emotion as families sought strength to face the difficult days ahead without their loved ones.
“The service, held at AGC Karen, Nairobi, prayed for the departed souls and for strength and comfort for the families they leave behind,” he stated.
Speaking during the service, Murkomen painted a picture of a leader who understood both confrontation and dialogue, and who carried deep knowledge without arrogance.
“Johana Ng’eno would fight during the day and negotiate at night. He knew when to negotiate with his colleagues. He was an underrated politician. He had many degrees, but would not go throwing them around. He had a certain depth and intellect,” Murkomen stated.
Murkomen further described Ngong as a religious man who illuminated his constituency, Emurua Dikirr.

“He was deeply a religious man. He would quote deep verses off hand. Because of the challenges his people faced in Emurua Dikirr; he would figuratively tell them there is a better land. He said he was a firefly. And like a firefly, he illuminated Emurua Dikirr, Housing and the life of artistes. May he rest in peace.” he stated.
Murkomen concluded by urging the country to remain united and supportive of the grieving families during this painful moment.
“They were men of valor, love and great dedication to their families and vocations. As a nation and a community, we stand with their families during this difficult time,” he added.
