The prime suspect in the killing of a University of Eldoret (UOE) student three weeks ago will be detained for six days pending the completion of investigations, an Eldoret court ruled yesterday.

The Third Year UOE student, Kenneth Kibet who appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Otenyo was arrested by a team of police officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) department on May 1 at the scene of crime.

Kibet is alleged to have killed his fiancée Sheila Jemutai before attempting to commit suicide over what the police cited as love triangle.

According to court documents, the suspect was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where he has been receiving treatment before being discharged three days ago.
