Murang’a forum council members sworn-in
Members of the Budget and Economic Forum Council who were appointed by the Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata took the oath of office pledging to help reclaim the county’s economic glory.
The members including Equity Bank founder Dr Peter Munga, businessman Jimnah Mbaru, Royal Media proprietor SK Macharia, Eng John Musonik a board member of Safaricom and former PS for Roads, Prof Zipporah Nganga, Dr Kanyanje Gakombe, Dr Felistus Njuguna, Prof Macharia Muthuure, Amb Mary Muthoni and Dr Salome Gitoho were selected by the governor in November to help drive the development agenda for the county.
The members said they are going to work together as a team to add value to the projects already established by the county government to help improve the livelihood of the locals.
Munga on his part said the members have the experience and expertise in various fields and they will pull their heads together to generate ideas that will help the county rise to the top.
“All the members have an input to give based on their experience in their respective field but our common goal is to ensure the county is up on its feet again,” remarked Munga. “There was a time when Murang’a used to thrive economically to an extent of lending money to the national government and we want to get there.”
SK Macharia lauded the governor for forming the council saying this is the best platform to drive the development agenda. “We promise not to fail you and we will give our best as a team so that our county can rise and the locals get to realize an improved economy and development,” he said.
Mbaru said Murang’a will become the model county and other devolved units will be coming to learn from here adding that they have vast knowledge and advice to give to the governor. “We have excelled in various fields and we are back to help build the county while giving back to the society where our roots are,” remarked Mbaru.
