Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has once again criticised estranged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over what he termed as unpatriotic remarks made by the politician during his tour in the US.

Speaking in Funyula, Busia County, on Monday, August 11, 2025, Mudavadi chided Gachagua for his damning remarks about the state of the country’s governance after he claimed that the nation was being ruled like a dictatorial state.

Speaking ill of Kenya

“You have seen how one of us has gone to the states, and he is speaking ill of his country and spewing tribal talk to the extent that even his hosts marvelled at him,” he stated.

“You are a national leader, but you are the one who talks of your country in a manner that defeats all logic abroad. To the extent that we fail to understand if you are speaking as a Kenyan or a US security government agency. Kenya is a sovereign state

Mudavadi stated that Gachagua’s remark cast doubts on his patriotism as a Kenyan who wishes to lead the nation.

“We cannot have a leader saying he wants to lead the country and you talking like a security or investigative officer of a foreign nation. You have to respect your country. You cannot make remarks that make people doubt your patriotism as a Kenyan. Let us be committed to this country,” he stated.

His sentiments come after Gachagua stepped up his onslaught on Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza regime during his ongoing two-month tour of the United States of America.,

In one of his latest offensives, Gachagua compared the current administration to the colonial government, arguing that even during those harsh times, children were never targeted.

He further opined that the Ruto regime had also surpassed that of former President Daniel Moi, who was infamous for the Nyayo torture chamber for meting out untold suffering to perceived government dissidents.

Brutal regime

“Brutal as colonial rule was, they never attacked children,” Gachagua stated. “Even during the difficult years of President Moi’s 24-year rule, the government persecuted men but never harmed children or women.”

According to Gachagua, this is unprecedented in Kenya’s history.

“No government has ever turned against children,” he said.
