Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has hailed the recent developments that have led to the de-escalation of the Gaza–Hamas war.

According to Mudavadi, who addressed this matter on his social media pages on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, such a development is an important step towards global peace

He noted that the ongoing ceasefire in the Middle East between Israel and the Hamas group marks a significant milestone after years of devastating conflict. The war, which has lasted for more than two years, has caused immense human suffering, with thousands of lives lost and many families left desolate.

“One of the best things that has happened at the moment, and it’s still ongoing, is seeing the ceasefire in the Middle East between Israel and the Hamas group in Gaza; it is such a significant development, and so many lives have been lost. People have died. They are desolate.” Mudavadi stated.

Mudavadi emphasised that terrorism and the reactions it provokes both come at a heavy cost, making it difficult to identify any true winners in such a conflict. He expressed relief at the unfolding situation, describing it as a positive step toward lasting peace.

“The cost of terrorism is bad, and equally, the reaction when terrorism can also be very devastating. So it’s really difficult to say who has a man. There’s a winner out of this. You know, it’s totally an unfortunate episode, two years plus, of very difficult circumstances. So I am happy for the unfolding situation,” he added.

He commended the leaders and mediators who have signed and supported the peace agreement, expressing hope that its implementation will be genuine and sustained. Mudavadi added that the progress in Gaza could inspire similar peace initiatives in other conflict-affected regions across the world.

“Leaders are signing off on this peace agenda, peace agreement, which is so important. We look forward to genuine and committed implementation of this agreement,” he added.

Effects of the war

He pointed out that the ceasefire has allowed residents of Gaza to begin returning to their homes and has paved the way for the resumption of humanitarian operations that had been severely restricted.

Many children, previously affected by malnutrition and lack of food, are now expected to receive the assistance they desperately need.

Mudavadi further observed that Kenyans can draw important lessons from the Gaza conflict on the value of peace and stability. He noted that those who fail to understand the consequences of chaos and conflict risk repeating the same mistakes, stressing that peace remains the most important foundation for national and global progress.
