A man in Mpeketoni area of Lamu County is nursing serious injuries after his wife reportedly cut off his private parts over a protracted domestic conflict.

The incident occurred in Sefu village within Lamu West.

Speaking to journalists from his hospital bed in Mpeketoni Sub-County Hospital where he has been admitted, Charles Ogero said his wife attacked him on Wednesday night while he was asleep.

“On my arrival home from work, I was feeling exhausted, so I went to bed to rest. I had no idea that my wife had some nasty plans for me. I woke up in the middle of the night to a sharp pain. My manhood had been chopped off by my own wife,” Ogero explained.

Household times

He said that he and his wife have been involved in a prolonged conflict.

“Our marriage has been full of drama. The first time my wife flashed some warning signs was when she went on the rampage destroying household items including kitchen utensils,” he said, adding he tried to calm her down and advised her not to divert her anger into household items in vain.

According to Ogero, his wife’s fury kept going from bad to worse.

“It reached a point where she torched all my clothes leaving me with just what I was wearing. She executed the mission while I was away at work. I have reported all those cases but unfortunately authorities have been slow to take action,” he said while calling on the authorities to decisively deal with the perpetrator who is currently being held in police custody.

Small child

“I might have been a little bit lenient on previous cases but after the latest incident I will never forgive her. I am asking the government to take this matter with the seriousness it deserves because she has left me in extremely bad shape…she has also left me with a little child who I don’t know how I will handle while I am in this state,” he said.

Village elder Gerald Ng’ang’a confirmed that the couple’s marriage had been embroiled in a protracted domestic violence adding that they have been trying to solve the conflict with the area chief.
