During last year’s 13th edition of the EAC Interparliamentary Games held in Kigali, Rwanda, Salasya participated in a walking race.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Monday, November 25, 2024, expressed confidence that the Parliament of Kenya is not only going to the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games to win trophies but also to demonstrate its commitment to regional integration of the region to a free movement of people, goods and services.

Wetang’ula in a post shared via his official X handle stated that the event has the support of the presidents of the region who have shown their commitment to uniting the East African region as one.

“The Parliament of Kenya is not only going to the East Africa Community Inter-Parliamentary Games to win trophies but to also demonstrate its commitment to regional integration of the region to a free movement of people, goods and services. This has the support of our Presidents of the region who have shown their commitment to unite the East African Region as one,” Wetang’ula stated.

The event, which seeks to enhance integration through the Inter-parliamentary Games, will be officially opened by President William Ruto on December 7, 2024.

The 14th edition of the games will be held in Mombasa.

Last month, Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen promised to complete the refurbishment of facilities that are supposed to be used for the event.
