Moses Kuria: Ruto regretted the fact that I resigned
By Arnold Ngure, August 20, 2025Former senior advisor in the Council of Economic Advisors, Moses Kuria, has disclosed that President William Ruto regretted his resignation from his position.
Speaking during a live TV interview on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Kuria dismissed claims that he may have been fired or asked to resign, noting that his resignation was made public.
“I was not fired, and I was not asked to resign. The president actually regretted the fact that I resigned. He really regretted from my conversation with him. He told me that it was my decision, but it was unfortunate,” Kuria said.
Private citizen
He stated that he had a conversation with the president on July 8, 2025, and told President William Ruto about his decision to transition into a private citizen.

“On July 8, 2025, I went and told the president that I needed to be out there to be able to look at things more clearly, and be neutral in these conversations so that the truth can come out,” Kuria noted.
“Why are there claims that I was fired when I actually resigned? I have my social media message to say I resigned, and I have my actual resignation letter.”
Political animal
Kuria equally observed that he is a political animal and that he would be politically active in the two years leading up to the 2027 general elections.
“We are getting to 23 months before the general election, so every politician in the field is going to be active and I am no exception,” he said.

In a post on Monday, July 14, 2025, Kuria displayed the letter addressed to the head of public service, Felix Koskei, concerning his resignation.
“I am writing to formally resign from my position as Senior Advisor at the President’s Council of Economic Advisors effective 8th July 2025,” the resignation letter reads.
“I sincerely appreciate your leadership and the support working as a Cabinet Secretary and later Senior Advisor under the Kenya Kwanza Government. It has been incredibly rewarding working in the implementation of the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity.”
Kuria was floored in the 2022 gubernatorial race of Kiambu County, where he garnered a paltry 25,512 votes against Kimani Wamatangi’s 348,371.
