Migori Youth host new comers Mully Children’s Family in Betika league
Migori Youth FC will host newly promoted side Mully Children’s Family (MCF) FC in a Betika National Super League (NSL) today in a rescheduled fixture at Migori Stadium in Migori County.
Both clubs did not play on the opening weekend of the season after Ushuru FC who had been scheduled to play Migori, folded owing to financial issues, hence forcing the match to be postponed.
The disbandment of Ushuru FC became a blessing in disguise for Yatta based side MCF, earning them a promotion to the second tier league after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee promoted them having initially lost the opportunity after losing the Division One playoff to Soy United.
With their inclusion in the top tier league, the Robert Arasa-coached side went through a baptism by fire in their debut fixture, where they lost 3-0 to Kenya Police at Ruaraka Grounds. Now they face a wounded Migori side in their second league match.
Migori Youth are also winless in two matches having started the season with a 1-0 loss to former Kenyan Premier League side Kisumu All Stars before forcing hosts Sony Sugar to a barren draw in they second duel and club chairman Aziz Abdi is upbeat, and believes that this is their chance to register their first win in the campaign.
The fixture is also monumental for the home side as they are set to play their first match ever at their new home ground, Migori Green Stadium. Migori previously used to host their home matches at Awendo Green Stadium.
“It’s the best feeling ever (playing at Migori Green Stadium). The role of the fans is critical in home matches, something we’ve really missed.
The fan base too can also be key to raising funds and marketing the club. We are delighted this has come into effect and without a doubt it’s going to be a memorable event, and we are delighted and as a team we are delighted, and we expect a positive start to our campaign this season,” Migori Youth FC chairman Aziz Abdi told People Sport.
The fixture add to a packed schedule especially for MCF who will have only a day to rest before travelling to Bomet to play APs Bomet on Friday, then complete week four fixtures by hosting Modern Coast Rangers on Wednesday, January 13 at Ruaraka Grounds, Nairobi while Migori Youth will have two days to rest before hosting impressive and newcomers Silibwet Leon’s FC on Sunday, January 10 at Migori Green Stadium.
