MCA Robert Alai insists he does not own a Facebook account
By Zipporah Ngwatu, June 3, 2026The Kileleshwa Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Robert Alai, has reiterated to the court that he does not own a Facebook account operating under his name or any pseudonym.
MCA Alai is in court after celebrated media personality Fred Machoka sued him, citing that he wrote defamatory statements about him on his Facebook account (Robert Alai).
Appearing before Milimani High Court Judge Stella Mutuku on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Alai told the court that he only owns TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) social accounts, disowning the Facebook one.
Further, the former blogger informed the court he joined TikTok this year, 2026, and joined X, formerly Twitter, sometime last year, 2025.
However, he told the court that he had not brought any evidence to prove his argument on the same in court.
“My lady, I neither own nor operate any social media account, specifically a Facebook account under the name of Robert Alai, but I have TikTok and Twitter accounts,” Alai told the court.
The MCA also told the court that he has never met, seen, or heard of the plaintiff (Machoka) at all, adding he had no idea about him and his personality until he sued him over the Facebook post, which he has denied is his.
Notably, he also told the court that the defamatory proceedings against him have defamed him more than they have defamed the plaintiff (Machoka), adding that he feels aggrieved because of the case.
During the court proceedings, it emerged that the controversial MCA was charged with publication of false information contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Crimes Act in the year 2020.
Alai confirmed that he indeed was charged but was later acquitted.
According to his statement, Alai, in his defence papers, notes that his name is Robert Alai Onyango and not the name presented as the defendant in the case, Robert Alai.
