National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has vouched for Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki as the most suitable candidate to replace recently impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Addressing a section of Kikuyu elders in Thraka Nithi, Wetang’ula heaped praise on Deputy President-elect Kithure Kindiki saying he has the potential to steer the country towards the right direction.

He expressed that having worked with the CS, he can attest that he is highly qualified to replace Gachagua.

Nimefanya kazi na mtoto wenu Kithure Kindiki, kama wakili mwenzangu tumefanya kazi pamoja , tumekua senate tukifanya kazi ya uma. Staki kuongea maneno mengi nataka tu kuambia watu wa Tharaka Nithi, mbele iko sawa, na mjivunie kua wakenya,” he said.

At the same time, Wetang’ula offered nuggets of wisdom to Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on how to stay relevant in the political scene.

According to the speaker, those who wish to be in the political arena for long should embrace loyalty not only to their bosses but to the course and what they stand for.

While insisting that the currency of politics is worth loyalty, Wetang’ula praised Kindiki for his committed loyalty to the course and the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“I want to tell MPs who are here, in life, there is only one currency in politics and that currency is called loyalty. Loyalty to your course, to those who elected you, to your boss, and loyalty to what we stand for. If you have no loyalty there is no other currency in politics,” the speaker said.

“Be loyal, you will go far, nimekua mbunge from 1992, hio si mda mchache, because I appreciate the currency of politics is worth loyalty and I know mtoto wetu Kithure Kindiki is my student in politics, he understands and appreciates that currency.”
