Matiang’i mourns death of Kennedy Ogeto’s wife in emotional tribute
By Mustafa Juma, May 24, 2026Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has joined family, friends, and colleagues in mourning the death of Rukia Mandari Ogeto, the wife of Senior Counsel Kennedy Ogeto.
In an emotional condolence message shared via his official X account on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Matiang’i described the loss as deeply painful, expressing solidarity with the bereaved family during what he termed a difficult period of grief.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary extended his heartfelt condolences to his long-time friend and colleague, Kennedy Ogeto, noting that the family had endured a prolonged and painful struggle leading up to the loss.
“Very saddened as I join family and friends in sending my heartfelt condolences to my brother and longtime friend, Senior Counsel Kennedy Ogeto, following the passing of his dear wife, Rukia Mandari Ogeto,” he said.
He further noted that the period leading to her passing had been emotionally and physically draining for the family.
“It has been a long and difficult struggle for you and your family, my dear brother,” he added.
Message of comfort and prayer
The former CS offered prayers for strength and comfort for the grieving family, asking for divine support during their moment of loss.
“May the Lord Almighty comfort you and hold your children with His mighty right hand,” Matiang’i said.
He also extended solidarity to the entire family, expressing hope for peace and fortitude as they come to terms with the tragedy.
“During this painful moment of grief and loss, may the Lord Almighty comfort you and hold your children with His mighty right hand. We stand with you during this dark hour and pray for strength, peace, and fortitude for the entire family as you come to terms with this profound loss,” he stated.

Who is Kennedy Ogeto?
Ogeto served as Solicitor General under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime, a period during which he represented the government in court on various matters.
Before he was appointed Solicitor General in 2018, Ogeto was the managing partner of the law firm of Ogeto, Otachi and Company Advocates based in Nairobi.
Between 2013 and 2014, Ogeto was involved in the Defence Team that represented Uhuru and other reputable defendants in the case against them at the International Criminal Court, The Hague, Netherlands.
Ogeto was also involved in the Supreme Court petition challenging the election of Uhuru as President of Kenya in 2013.
