Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has called on Members of Parliament (MP) to rethink their decision amid the ongoing impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In her statement, Karua noted that leaders should prioritise the voices and interests of citizens instead of political games.

She underscored that any attempts to distract citizens from crucial matters that affect them will only unify them to act since the revolution Gen Z began is spreading through all generations.

“If this was meant to distract people’s focus to facilitate advancement of the shady Adani deal, the negation of the right to quality health services through SHIF , and unresolved murders, abductions and intimidation then it has failed #ImpeachBoth,” Karua wrote on her X account.

“If this was meant to set citizens against each other, it has only unified their voice #ImpeachBoth. Parliamentarians need to rethink their moves or be against the people as happened during the #RejectFinanceBill2024 #ImpeachBoth.”

The latest comes amid the ongoing public participation exercise on Gachagua’s impeachment which has entered day two today.

This follows an extension by the National Assembly to allocate time for Kenyans who missed out on the exercise on Friday.

“Further to the public participation exercise which commenced on October 2, and the collection of views on October 4, all 290 constituency offices and the 47 county women representative offices, under the Parliamentary Service Commission, will remain open on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate further public input on the Special Motion,” the National Assembly Clerk announced.

However, despite the extension, constituencies in Nyeri, and North Eastern region among others recorded a low turnout.

A section of residents in the various constituencies expressed that the day was not convenient as people had other commitments.
