Ramadhan

Today marks the third day of Ramadan, the sacred month observed by millions of Muslims in Kenya and across the globe. Ramadan is a time of fasting, self-reflection, communal gatherings, and family bonds.

This ninth month of the Islamic calendar holds significance for Muslims as it commemorates the revelation of the first verses of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, engaging in acts of charity, kindness, and patience while deepening their spiritual connection with Allah.

Recitation of the Quran holds particular importance during this period, with believers dedicating themselves to its study and contemplation.

In 2024, Ramadan which commenced on Monday, March 11, is expected to conclude on April 9.

2 in court for stealing Ksh15M from employer

Two individuals, Judy Muringe Mugo, aged 41, and Catherine Waithera Ruiru, aged 26, are set to appear in Kiambu Law Courts on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, facing accusations of embezzling more than Ksh15.6 million from their employer for 18 months.

Mugo, serving as the Marketing Officer, and Ruiru, in the role of receptionist, both employed at Goshens Real Estate located in Ruaka township, Kiambu, allegedly committed the fraud as outlined in a case reported on January 23, 2024.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mugo allegedly deceived the estate tenants into diverting their payments away from the officially designated pay bill and bank account stated on their lease agreements.

Instead, she purportedly instructed them to use a fraudulent office line which she had established for this purpose.

In her capacity as the marketing officer and intermediary with tenants, Mugo allegedly informed tenants that the company's pay bill and bank account were no longer operational, and directed them to channel their payments to another phone number assigned to her for marketing purposes.
