Maraga party urges youth to register for IDs and votes

By , January 30, 2026

The United Green Movement Party (UGM), headed by the former Chief Justice and presidential aspirant David Maraga, has called on the youths to register for IDs and also register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement on their X platform on Friday, January 30, 2026, UGM has noted that the youth are the majority of the population in Kenya but many of them have not been registered as voters.

The party hasexpressed worry that without an ID and voter registration, the voices of the young people are excluded and may not be part of the decision-making in matters of job creation, healthcare, and other aspects affecting the nation.

“Kenya’s youth are the majority, but too many are still not registered voters. Without an ID and without voter registration, their voices are excluded from decisions on jobs, healthcare, education, the cost of living, and so much more. The Ukatiba Caravan supports voter and ID registration by taking information, mobilisation, and coordination closer to the people. We thank all Kenyans for supporting the David Maraga Presidential Campaign so far. Let’s keep going! To keep the Ukatiba Caravan on the road, we need your support. Registering one more voter strengthens our democracy. Be part of the process of change,” UDM stated.

In view of the low voter registration among the youths, the UDM party has announced a public sensitisation forum for the young people to register as identification card holders and subsequently voters, a campaign dubbed “Ukatiba caravan”. This caravan is expected to traverse across the 47 counties, spreading the message. The UDM has also called on the members of the public to support the caravan to make it a success.
