Manyora: No issue with ODM-Ruto ties, but don’t claim Raila approved it

Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has warned a section of leaders allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), telling them that there is no problem with entering into an agreement with President William Ruto or supporting him in 2027.

But, he warns, they should not lie to the nation that the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga approved it.

While speaking during an interview on his channel on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Manyora said there is no problem with ODM supporting the President for his re-election in 2027 or continuing with the broad-based arrangement or bromance, but they should not lie to the nation that the late Prime Minister told them that is the route to take.

“And I’m saying there will be nothing wrong with ODM deciding that they want to continue working with Ruto. There will be nothing wrong with ODM deciding, as a party, that they will support Ruto in 2027.”

“According to me, there’s nothing wrong. I may not agree with it myself, and many people may not agree with it, but that will be the party’s position. What I’m against is guys trying to lie that Baba told them,” Manyora stated.

Wanga’s argument

This comes days after Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, during the burial of the late Raila Odinga, declared that ODM and the entire Nyanza region will continue to stay in the broad-based government since that is where they were left by the late Odinga.

“And I remember him speaking at the burial of the late Dr Phoebe Asiya, and he said he made a clear decision to work with you for the stability and unity of the nation inside the broad-based government. That is the last standing instruction that Baba gave us, and as a people and as a party, that is where we will stand,” Wanga said.

She went ahead to state that just like during the lifetime of Raila Odinga, when he used to tell his followers which direction to take and they followed, the same will continue even after Raila Odinga’s death.

This comes amid persuasion from ODM leaders urging President William Ruto to join the Orange party as their presidential candidate for 2027.
