A family in Navakholo constituency, Kakamega county is grieving the death of their kin who died by suicide.

Police who confirmed the incident noted that the body of Sisko Shakaba was found hanging in his son’s bedroom.

The body was first discovered by his son, Stanley Shakaba, who alerted neighbours. Stanley has expressed shock noting that his father was in perfect condition and had never raised any concern about his well-being.

“I was shocked to see my father’s body. He was in good health and had not raised any issue,” he told a local publication.

The wife, Mariam Okubasu told police that she was notified of her husband’s death by residents who had gathered at her home.

“His body was found hanging from the roof in our son’s bedroom,” she stated.

Local residents led by the village elders have expressed shock and urged residents to seek professional help whenever faced with obstacles instead of taking their lives.

“It is a tragic incident. We however urge residents to seek professional help as opposed to taking their lives,” they said.

The body was moved to Kakamega Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.

Separate incident

Elsewhere in Kayole, Nairobi county, police are probing the death of a man and woman whose bodies were found dumped at Josna farm.

According to police, the two had their hands and legs tied using shoelaces. The man had visible injuries on the thigh, stomach and head whereas the lady’s lower part of the waist was missing.

Police suspect that they may have been murdered elsewhere and their bodies dumped at the scene.

Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei has assured residents that police were investigating the matter. He noted that those involved will be punished in accordance with the law.

“We can not tell for now what happened but we are investigating the murder incident,” he stated.

The bodies were moved to a nearby morgue pending an autopsy.
