“I was indeed in a relationship with the slain college student whom I ‘m accused of killing four years ago in Moi’s Bridge area,” Mustafa Idd, a suspected serial killer, told the court when he was put on his defence.

Idd, 31 year old carpenter, told Eldoret High Court Judge, that the deceased, Emmah Wanyota, 21, was his lover and dismissed claims that he was behind her gruesome murder on the fateful day.

The accused is said to have walked into Moi’s Bridge police station in Uasin Gishu County and told officers that he had just killed hisgirlfriend and dismembered her body. Idd is accused of killing Wanyota, who was a final year student at Vera beauty College in Eldoret town, on September 30, 2019 at her parent’s home in Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu County.

Idd claimed that he was not within the vicinity of Moi’s Bridge area on the day the body of the slain college student was found killed and only heard about the incident later.

He told the court that he was working at Langas, in Eldoret and that he had been called by the deceased’s sister and mother inquiring about his girlfriend’s whereabouts

Idd’s trial began in September 2019 and the prosecution closed its case in March after calling more than 10 witnesses to give their sworn testimonies.

According to the police, the deceased’s body was badly mutilated and her limbs were missing by the time her mother reported about the horrible incident at the police station. Idd is also facing another murder case at the High Court in Kitale
