‘Mambo ya 2027 bado’ – President Ruto warns of early politics

By , January 10, 2025

President William Ruto has downplayed the debate surrounding the 2027 general elections, saying his focus is to deliver what he promised.

The Head of State made the remarks as he addressed members of the public at Moi’s Bridge during his development tour of Uasin Gishu County on Friday, January 10, 2024.

Wangoje, maneno ni mbichi, bado mambo, ama namna gani,” Ruto said.

While stressing the need to avoid politics for now, Ruto said when the time comes, he will be judged by what he would have done in his first term.

Scorecard

Mimi nachallenge wale wengine watafute scorecard yao. Wasimangemange hapa watakuja kukwama. Ama namna gani? Tuko pamoja? Tunaelewana?

Unafikiria unaweza kuja uzia hawa watu fitina? Eti ooh, ilienda ikarudi; wananchi wamechanuka nani… wanajua what they want. Sijui kama tunaelewana. Acha niulize nyinyi watu wa hapa Moi’s Bridge, mambo ya stima inasonga mbele ama haisongi mbele?” he asked.

Ruto also listed the issues his government is working hard to deliver and warned his opponents that they will also be judged by what their achievement will be.

Nyinyi wengine mjipange; mtakuja kusema yenu ni gani. Ama namna gani jameni? Tuko pamoja?” he concluded.

Ruto’s defence of his government has come at a time when his administration has been put under immense pressure, especially by recent cases of reported abductions.
