Magoha urges firms to donate towards Covid-19 fight

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has urged organisations to support schools to enhance safe learning in the midst of coronavirus pandemic.

Magoha called for support in provision of necessities such as masks to needy and vulnerable children in all 23,000 primary schools across the country, to enable them go through strict timelines aimed at restoring normal programmes by end of next year.

“I urge all partners, through their Community Social Responsibility programmes, to step in and provide support to our children as we fight Covid-19, which is here to stay,” said the CS. 

He made the remarks when he received the first batch of donation of 4,000 school bags and 20,000 reusable masks from Absa Bank Kenya at Joseph Kangethe Primary School, even as he warned against diverting the donation.

“I promise that the masks we have received today will be a good addition to this campaign of ensuring our learners are all masked,” he said. 

The Absa donation is part of a countrywide initiative that will support 46 special needs schools with repurposed school bags and reusable masks. 

Absa Managing Director Jeremy Awori said the bank will donate school bags and reusable face masks countrywide.
