Magoha: Award high school scholarships with integrity or face my wrath

By , December 18, 2019

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha has issued a stern warning against irregularities in awarding government high school scholarships to needy students.

While releasing the results for the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Magoha said he will monitor the awards to ensure that needy students benefit.

“Applications for these scholarships have been done. I want to give you my word. I have no kind word for any thief at all. We want that child from the gutter who has qualified to go to high school,” said the CS.

The government rolled out scholarships for needy students who passed the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and lack school fees to proceed to high school.

Magoha asked those involved in the award of scholarships to ensure that no false information is presented for any pupil.

On top of a critical process to evaluate the degree of need to beneficiaries, Magoha added that he will personally verify the process at random.
