Lolomalik FC, Shake Stars emerge Betika Na Community – Meru Winners

Local football sides Lolomalik FC (men) and Shake Stars (women) emerged the overall winners at the latest Betika Na Community football tournament held in Meru county at the weekend.
The two teams, who won Sh200,000 and Sh 100,000 cash prizes respectively for their feat, overwhelmed 18 other teams for the much-coveted titles. Apart from the cash prizes, each winning side was also awarded a Betika shop.
All participating teams in the competition were provided with football kits and footballs to help them in their training for local league matches and tournaments.
Invest in youth
The tournament, which attracted over 7,000 fans was organised by Betika through the recently launched Betika Na Community initiative.
It was a culmination of week-long activities, held by the betting firm in Meru which saw them hand out occupational gear and protective clothing such as reflector jackets and mechanic overalls to the Meru residents.
The programme aims to invest in the youth by nurturing talent through Sports, Arts and Culture events.
Under the Sports programme, the initiative aims to support the youth in the community through provision of uniforms, financial support, kits, balls, nets and other sports equipment.
