Kuresoi North residents decry insecurity, urge govt to intervene
By KNA, September 11, 2022Residents of Mawingu area in Kuresoi North have raised concerns over the rise of insecurity in the area urging the government to intervene.
The irate residents who spoke to the press after witnessing separate robbery incidents that left a 15-year-old boy dead and another nursing serious injuries said they are living in fear, not certain of their safety anymore.
Esther Wanjiku, a local resident stated that the issue at hand needs to be addressed earlier before the matter gets out of hand.
Wanjiku attributed the rise of insecurity in the area to the consumption of illicit brews and drugs and substance abuse adding that the local administration had let their guard down.
The residents urged the area chief to rise up to the occasion and involve other leaders in addressing such matters.
In the same area, a middle-aged man is said to have slashed his wife to death before committing suicide by throwing himself into a well.
Fortunately, the man was rescued by police officers who arrived on time and rushed him to a local health facility where he is recuperating before being arraigned in court.
