The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, announced that the 2024 inter-institute transfer application is now open.

KUCCPS has called upon applicants who were placed in various universities and colleges during the concluded exercise conducted in May 2024 and wish to change institutions to apply online via the student portal.

“The 2024 inter-institution transfer application is now open Applicants placed in universities and colleges last month (May 2024) who wish to change institutions should apply via the student. kuuccps .net,” KUCCPS statement reads.

The placement service stated that the process will not only allow the change of institutions but also the change of courses subject to applicants meeting applicable cut-off points.

“The process also allows change of courses subject to applicants meeting applicable cut-off points,” said KUCCPS.

KUCCPS Application

April 4, 2024, was the KUCCPS application deadline while the second revision which targeted previous applicants who had not yet secured a course or those yet to submit their course selections deadline was April 25, 2024.

“The KUCCPS application portal http://students.kuccps.net closes tonight. 2023 #KCSE examination candidates who have not applied for placement to universities and colleges are encouraged to log in and select available programmes and institutions,” KUCCPS said.

“Second Revision of Course Choices has re-opened for application to unfilled programmes in universities, TVET institutions and KMTC. This targets previous applicants who have not yet secured a course or those yet to submit their course selections deadline: April 25, 2024.”

Course application

KUCCPS stated that 85 per cent of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates who scored C+ and above who made applications opted for degree courses while the rest opted for diploma courses.

“Some Key Observations:  85% of 2023 KCSE candidates with C+ and above-made applications where 76.2% opted for Degree courses while the rest opted for Diploma (11,991),” KUCCPS said.

Male candidates dominated in the application of degree programs while the majority of the female students opted for Technical Institutions.

In terms of course application, the bachelor of education attracted the highest number of applicants.

“Male applicants continued to dominate placement to Degree programs, sustaining a trend that has been observed since the beginning of the central placement system. In contrast, female students were the majority of those placed in TVET, from the 2020/2021 Cycle to the present,” KUCCPS said.
