KNUMLO welcomes Nancy Jebungei Bowen’s appointment as KMLTTB chair
The Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers (KNUMLO) has welcomed the appointment of Nancy Jebungei Bowen as the new Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB), saying her leadership will strengthen standards in the medical laboratory sector.
Bowen was appointed through a Gazette notice issued on May 15, 2026, as part of a wider round of changes announced by President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretaries across several state agencies.
In its statement, KNUMLO said Bowen’s appointment reflects confidence in her experience and commitment to the profession.
“KNUMLO is proud to congratulate Nancy Jebungei Bowen on her well-deserved appointment as Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians & Technologists Board,” the union said. “This is not just a personal achievement — it is a victory for every Medical Laboratory professional in Kenya.”
The union said Bowen has shown consistency in supporting professional growth and improving laboratory standards. It added that her leadership comes at a time when the sector needs stronger regulation and coordination.
“KNUMLO stands firmly behind you as you take on this important national responsibility,” the statement read. “Your journey has been defined by dedication, excellence, and an unwavering passion for elevating laboratory services.”
The KMLTTB regulates training, licensing and professional conduct for medical laboratory technicians and technologists in Kenya.
KNUMLO said it expects the new leadership to focus on strengthening training institutions, improving compliance, and addressing challenges facing laboratory workers in public and private facilities.
