Kisii Ward reps protest over wrangles pitting Governor Arati, Osoro
Several Members of Kisii County Assembly from Bobasi constituency yesterday protested in Nyamache Market over the tiff between Governor Simba Arati and South Mugirango lawmaker, Silvanus Osoro.
Led by Majority Leader, Henry Moracha, they petitioned Internal Security Cabinet Secretary, Kithure Kindiki to arrest the MP for allegedly disrupting Arati’s meeting at Nyakembene market South Mugirango two weeks ago.
The Governor was gracing the releasing of Ward bursary funds Forms at the market when gunmen shot at the crowd, injured locals as Arati spoke.
“ We want the Cabinet Secretary to arrest Osoro to face the law, failure to which he arrests all of us” Moracha told protesters.
Moracha, the Bassi Central Ward Representative said ODM Secretary General, Edwin had given Kindiki and Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome two weeks to nab Osoro and are waiting.
Nyacheki Ward MCA, Naftal Onkoba said the protests will continue on Mondays and Fridays till the MP is apprehended. The MCA they will block all roads leading to the county to press the government arrest Osoro.
“ What would have happened if our governor was shot at and killed during the attack?” Onkoba posed.
He urged residents of Kisii to support Arati complete ten years at the helm and told the Legislator to respect Arati and wait till 2032 if he wants to succeed him.
Kisii County Assembly Deputy Speaker- cum- Masige West MCA Jacob Bagaka said Bobasi leaders will not allow leaders from other areas to vilify the governor.
“ We will defend the governor until he completes his two terms. I blame the police for laxity” Bagaka said, stressing they will hold weekly demos to express their anger over police officers laxity.
Masige East MCA Michael Motume said Bobasi leaders will not allow Osoro to be attacking Arati for selfish interest. He called for the MPs arrest and challenged him to respect the governor to avoid conflicts. Bassi Chache Ward Representative, John Sambo told Osoro to leave Arati alone and stick to his job as Majority Chief Whip.
“It is wrong for the Mp to disrupt Arati’s meeting. We want him to respect Arati and allow him serve Kisii residents” Sambo said.
