Kisii clergy forum wants Gen Z disquiet factored

As President William Ruto’s nominees to the Cabinet wait to be vetted by Parliament, pastors in Kisii county have implored him to consider Gen Z in other government appointments.

County Clergy Forum chairman, Bishop Lawrence Nyanuga said it will be unfair for the president to completely ignore the younger generation who led the recent protests in other government appointments as part of their demands included their isolation in the management of the country’s affairs.

“The nomination of elderly politicians to his Cabinet will not go down well with the youths. They will feel that their cause was hijacked by the politicians who have ended up getting positions in the cabinet at their expense,” Nyanuga told People Daily.

He denied claims that church leaders had failed in their role to keep the government under check, noting that they have raised concerns over various ills which the president has acted upon.

Elsewhere, Kisii County Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers ( Kuppet) Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha has lashed out at critics of Education Cabinet Secretary nominee, Julius Migosi Ogamba.

The trade unionist said the nominee was qualified for the job and implored the critics to support him with ideas to succeed in his work if he is appointed.

“It was an honor for the Head of State to nominate him to replace Ezekiel Machogu. It means that the President has confidence in him” Abincha told the People Daily.
