Kisii RFC captain George Sagini has called on his team-mates to put behind their financial woes and finish the first leg on a high when they host debutants Northern Suburbs in a 2019/20 KRU Championship tie at Gusii Stadium on Saturday.

The team has won only one match out of eight, while dishing out three walkovers, after failing to travel for away matches due to financial constraints but Sagini has issued a rallying call, urging his team-mates to approach the match with the seriousness it deserves.

“The team spirit is not one of the best right now but we know where we are and what is at stake,” said Sagini.

“We want to win with a bonus point against Suburbs (Northern) so as to bring back the Kisii RFC belief before we break for Christmas. This win will be crucial in fueling the boys for the second leg of the campaign,” he added.

He confirmed the club has organised a funds drive this month to cushion them in the interim as they seek a lasting solution.

“We have a fundraiser on December 28 and we are targeting Sh400,000. The money will see us play all our matches because we are not planning to lose any game from the second leg neither are we looking at giving out walkovers,” he said.
