Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has approved an overhaul of the county revenue department to improve collections.

Kihika  said the measures would not be limited to redeployment or reshuffling of revenue clerks and officers hinting at appointment of new revenue chiefs.

“To upscale the level of my government services to all residents, I have put in motion measures geared towards the identification of new revenue streams and the revamping of the known sources,” said Kihika (below).

Key changes

According to the county boss, the exercise must be undertaken by “dedicated and motivated” teams adding that in carrying out their responsibilities.

“Our stakeholders must be appreciated for their unwavering support and the continued commitment to honour their tax obligations to the county government,” she added.

Kihika said she was keen to ensure the entire public service is staffed with skilled and motivated members, saying that with a functional public service.

“To achieve these goals, I shall be announcing key changes to the existing administrative structures. The human resources function must be restructured to be responsive to the needs of our workforce,” she said.
