Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has come under fire for claiming to have been sent by President Uhuru Kenyatta to represent him at the burial of Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua’s mother on Tuesday.

At the burial, Kanini gave out Sh600,000 which he claimed was a contribution by the President.

However, Kanini’s claims did not go well with politicians allied to the Deputy President William Ruto.

Doubts arose on how President Kenyatta would have sent a contribution to an event which his deputy was also in attendance.

DP Ruto also attended the burial and addressed the mourners.

In his response, Kanini has asked his critics to call President Kenyatta and ask him if he sent the MP.

“I am asking people not to question me, direct your questions to the one who sent me (Uhuru Kenyatta),” said the lawmaker.
