Kidero freed by court after shocking claim about president Ruto
By Zipporah Ngwatu, October 9, 2025A Nairobi court has released Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, alias Nelson Muriithi, a man who claimed to be President William Ruto’s son.
Before making the claim, Kidero had admitted to breaking into Bunge Towers three times unlawfully in search of his 13 wives but later changed his statement and denied accessing the August House.
Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, freed Kidero after his uncle, Kelvin Chege, showed up in court and requested that he be handed back to him.
Magistrate Ekhubi also warned Kidero against repeating the same offence of trespassing on Bunge Towers and urged his uncle to ensure that he does not get out of his sight.
“I’m releasing you to your uncle, Kelvin Chege, today, but on the condition that you do not commit any other offence, and at no point, Mr. Chege, do not let him out of your sight,” Magistrate Ekhubi directed.
“Do not repeat the same offence of going back to Parliament; I do not want to regret freeing you,” Magistrate Ekhubi told Kidero.
He further directed that Kidero’s family should take him to a hospital for medical attention. The uncle informed the court that he had just spoken to his father, who had told him to take Kidero to Thika.
On September 30, 2025, Kidero pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawfully accessing the National Assembly.
According to the charge sheet, Kidero was arrested after he was found in the Bunge Towers parking area on August 7, 2025, at 9:30 pm.
“On August 7, 2025, at around 2130 hours in Nairobi, within Nairobi County, you were found at the parking area of the Bunge Towers without lawful authority,” part of the charge read.
After pleading not guilty, he informed the court that he did not access Bunge Towers but the State House.
This prompted Magistrate Ekhubi to ask him if he knows where Bunge Towers and State House are.
In his response, he stated that Bunge Towers is around town, but State House is not close to Bunge Towers.
“You told us you went there,” Magistrate Ekhubi asked Kidero.
“It was not Bunge Towers; it was State House,” Kidero told the court.
“State House is not yet close to Bunge Towers, but Bunge Towers, Harambee House, and the CBK Pension Towers are closely attached,” Kidero added.
On September 25, 2025, Kidero shocked the court when he claimed to be President William Ruto’s son.
He also informed the court that he and his mother helped Ruto reach his current position, adding that he believes there is a mistake going on in the August House.
“My mother is called Angeline Muriithi, so actually there was a mistake. Mr. William Samoei Ruto is my father; I helped him to become the president, and my mother is Angeline Muriithi, and he is supposed to be my father, so I think there is a mistake going on in Parliament,” Kidero stated in court.
Notably, Kidero told the court that he has no issue with anyone, and if at all he has wronged anyone in the country, he seeks forgiveness.
“I do not have any problem with anyone; in fact, if I have wronged anyone in the country, I apologise,” Kidero told the court.
