A section of youth from Thika in Kiambu County have urged the government to prioritise them in employment opportunities under the projects it is undertaking.

The youngsters who have successfully completed technical training in various fields insisted that the government should tap into their energy and expertise to accelerate completion of its projects such as the affordable houses being put up across the country. “We have so much untapped energy and ideas that if well exploited, can bring an end to the joblessness in the country. We urge the government to employ us in its housing projects or give us start-up capital to enable us to venture in small enterprises,” Mirriam Mukami, a graduate said.

Speaking at Kolping Educational Training Centre, KVTC in Kilimambogo, Thika East after graduating, the youth pleaded with the government to engage in the projects, allowing them to improve their livelihoods.

Their sentiments were echoed by Ngoliba Ward MCA Joakim Njama who was the chief guest at the event and called on the government to establish business grants and cheap loans to enable youths pursue their business goals.
