Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has apologised to the family of a worker who was gored to death by his bull on Saturday night.

During a meeting at his Malinya village home in Ikolomani constituency, Khalwale yesterday termed the tragic death of Kizito Amukune as unfortunate and regrettable.

He narrated how Amukune had spent the previous day heartily and enjoying himself after he had paid him his monthly salary.

Celebratory mood

“He spent the whole of Saturday in a celebratory mood while taking care of Inasio (the killer bull) which loved him so much. I still do not understand what went wrong at nightfall,” he said.

Senator and bereaved family drew an elaborate burial programme that entails a series of cultural activities.

Amukune was found lying in a pool of blood inside the bull’s shade at Khalwale’s home.

It is said he had been heard chanting songs for ‘Inasio’ the previous night as was the norm before he went silent.

It is suspected that he was intoxicated with alcohol when the bull attacked him.

The over 500-kilogramme ‘Inasio’ was then killed by Khalwale and angry villagers who shared the meat.
