Kenya’s COVID-19 cases jump to 1, 471 as three more die

Kenya has recorded 123 new cases of coronavirus after 3, 077 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced on Wednesday. 

This takes the total number of cases in the country to 1, 471. 

“This is the highest number of cases we have ever recorded in a day,” Kagwe said.

Of the cases, 78 are males and 45 are females.

Eighty five of the cases are from Nairobi, Mombasa (24), Kiambu (4) and the rest are distributed across other counties.

In Nairobi, Mathare recorded the highest of cases at 33 and Kibera (14).

Three more patients have died, bringing the total deaths from the disease to 55.

“Two of the deceased had diabetes and one had breast cancer,” he said.
