It was yet another weekend of mixed football results for Kenyan players abroad as some of them look to impress ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Michael Olunga scored his 17th goal of the season despite his Kashiwa Reysol going down 1-3 to Yokohama Marinos in the Japanese J1 League.

The red-hot forward is already attracting interest in Europe following his stellar campaign but unfortunately the result meant his team fell two slots down on the standings to eighth with 30 points off 19 matches.

At the same time, Kenya captain Victor Wanyama had full minutes on the board as 10-man Montreal Impact were thumped 1-4 by New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer, the fourth loss on  the trot.

Elsewhere in Swedish Allsvenskan, Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu played the full minutes as his IF Elfsborg recorded their fifth consecutive draw in a goalless result against IFK Goteborg on Saturday.

In the second tier Swedish Superettan, Kenyan midfielder Eric Johanna had a cameo appearance of 10 minutes as his Jonkopings Sodra side tied 2-2 with Vasteras SK.

In the lower Ettan League, another Kenyan Anthony Wambani posted 90 minutes as his 10 man Vasalunds recorded a 2-1 win over Orebro as they continued to top the standings in the division with 50 points.

In neighbouring Belgium, midfielder Johanna Omollo could not make the team in Cercle Brugge’s 1-2 loss against city rivals Club Brugge in the Belgian top flight.

Cercle Brugge is now down to ninth on the log off seven matches in the Pro-League with nine points.

Meanwhile in Georgia, former Gor Mahia player Amos Nondi managed 70 minutes as his Dila Gori side were eliminated from the David Kipiani Cup in post-match penalties by Gafra.

Closer home, action was alight as well especially in Egypt and Tanzania. In the Vodacom Premier League, Tanzanian giants Simba SC hit Gwambina FC3-0 with Joash Onyango playing the full match while rivals Yanga SCV recorded a 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar minus the input of Kenyan goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo.
