Kenya would be Africa’s Singapore if leaders worked as hard as citizens – MP Amisi

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has urged the country’s leadership to emulate their hard-working citizens.

In his statement shared via his official X page on Monday, December 16, 2024, Amisi observed that several Kenyans get up at the crack of dawn to report to their various workstations and or seek employment opportunities.

He noted that if the same level of determination and hard work is applied in leadership, Kenya will take a developmental trajectory and be at par with developed countries such as Singapore.

I wake up very early morning and as early as 4 am morning, I meet Kenyans along the streets, in millions walking downtown from Kawangware, Kangemi, Kibra, and Ngong towards their various work station and /or to look for jobs. If leaders of this country were working as hard as Kenyans do, towards a better future, Kenya would be by now the Singapore of Africa. But system ni wizi wa pesa za umma, matusi, ukabila, ukorofi, kiburi, majivuno na mauaji ya kiholela. Ipo siku!” he said.

Amisi’s remarks come shortly after President William Ruto reiterated his commitment to transform the country.

Speaking in Taita Taveta, Ruto expressed his unwavering commitment to revive the country’s economy and bring development.

He also addressed naysayers fond of criticising him saying a country cannot develop on falsehoods, disinformation or propaganda.

“Let’s stop the spirit of negativity in our country, we cannot build this nation on falsehoods, fake news, disinformation or propaganda. You cannot hate your country so much to the extent you want it to fail. I want to tell the people of Kenya this country is going to succeed and we will shame the naysayers,” Ruto said.

“I am a man on a mission I don’t have the luxury to retreat or surrender because we have to change this country. I sympathize with the naysayers and negative people who want Kenya to fail. Kenya will proceed forward.”

The president’s pledge to transform the country comes in the wake of sustained criticism from the church and a section of Kenyans over the harsh economic times and the health scheme among others.
