Kenya women’s national 3×3 basketball team’s efforts to qualify for Olympics Paris 2024 went up in smoke, after losing three qualifying matches, during the FIBA 3×3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament two ( UOQT2), which concluded in Japan, over the weekend.

The national team which flew straight to Japan for the UOQT2 competition, from Marseille in  France, where the squad of five players, accompanied by a similar number of technical and an administration official, had been for 14 days at the Mirasmas residential camp training, lost their first Olympic qualifier game against Canada 12-19.

Speaking to People Sport yesterday, after Kenya was bundled out of the Olmpic qualifiers in Japan, KBF Division One , women team  Swifts coach Charles Anjeho said the team lost, due to lack of adequate international exposure of the players and  overseas build-up games adding that “ the team needs more international exposure to perform well going forwards.”

KBF acting Secretary-General ( SG) Angela Luchivya, who is also the national women’s team manager, in an interview with People Sport from Japan, said Canada is a more experienced team, which jetted to the UOQT2 qualifiers,  after having beaten two U.S.A team’s,  currently in residential camp training for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

And, lady luck again failed to inspire Kenya’s women national team, during the second Pool B UOQT2 qualifier against Australia at the competition venue Utsunomia, in Japan, and went down fighting 9-22.
