Kenya Railways announces multiple job vacancies after SGR expansion

Kenya Railways has announced various job openings days after the government launched the Narok-Kisumu-Malaba Standard Gauge Railways (SGR)

The job listings are part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance its operations and expand rail transport services across the country.

In a notice published in MyGov on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the corporation invited applications from qualified and experienced Kenyans to fill several managerial positions.

The available roles include managerial positions in rail safety, passenger services, sales and marketing, quality management system and risk coordination manager.

Others are signalling, electrical and communication manager, technical audit manager, stores and inventory manager, train operations manager and accounts manager.

Each position has one vacancy, with some roles being re-advertised while others are newly introduced.

Applicants are required to submit a signed application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates and a valid identification document.

“Candidates should provide all the details requested for in the advertisement. It is an offence to include incorrect information in the application; 2. Only shortlisted and successful candidates will be contacted; 3. Shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates during interviews; 4. It is a criminal offence to present fake certificates/documents; and 5. Beware of fraudsters misusing the Company name to solicit money from unsuspecting job seekers,” the corporation said.

The applicants must also provide information on their work experience, referees and salary expectations.

Successful candidates will be required to present clearance certificates from relevant government agencies, including those from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

They are also expected to submit clearance forms from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and the credit referencing bureau (CRB).

“Only Successful candidates will be expected to present the following Chapter Six Clearance Certificates: – 1. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations; 2. Valid Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); 3. Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA); 4. Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and 5. Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB),” Kenya Railways said.

Kenya Railways emphasised its commitment to equal opportunity employment and encouraged applications from women, persons with disabilities, minorities and marginalised groups.

Interested candidates who meet the required qualifications were directed to submit their applications through the job link available on the Kenya Railways website: krc.co.ke.

The Corporation warned that applications made through hard copy submissions will not be accepted, noting that the deadline for applications is April 28, 2026, at 5 pm.

“Applicants must clearly indicate the Position Applied For and the Vacancy Reference Number in the subject heading,” Kenya Railways emphasised.

Candidates who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply early, as only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
